Myths about tutoring...DEBUNKED!

Two student working together1. Tutoring is for the struggling student -

TRUTH : Everyone can benefit from tutoring at some point in their college career.  We all learn differently and to assume we can learn all new concepts easily is not realistic. There are subjects that will challenge each of us.  Tutoring can help you designate time to focus on one subject at a time, learn and practice study skills that will help you in all areas of learning. It's a great way to meet peers and spend time working toward common goals!

2. I Don't Have Time For Tutoring-

TRUTH : It's important to look at time and reflect about your efficiency.  Committing to tutoring one to two hours a week could save you hours of cramming, only to not get the outcome you wanted.  Cramming is also not helpful in long term learning of the material.  Chances are this information is going to come up again and it is worth investing some time in learning it well the first time.

YOU DO HAVE TIME! IT'S NOT TOO LATE! COMMIT TO YOUR ACADEMICS AND ACHIEVE SUCCESS!

"Hi! I'm Adelina. I'm a senior and a biology major. This is my second semester tutoring for the Trailblazer Tutor Program.  I also work as a Writing Associate and am involved in Dance Company! Tutoring can be really helpful, especially in classes that might be difficult, or when you need a different approach to learn the material from someone that has already taken the class.  I definitely recommend stopping by because it might be more helpful than you think!"

Adelina will be tutoring Intro to Biology I & II in the Spring we hope you will join her!!!

Kelsey LeFrieniereMeet Kelsey LeFreniere

"Hi! I am a Psychology Major, Class of 2022. I am a Peer Tutor with the Trailblazer Tutor Program, a Peer Notetaker, and Student Athlete on the Volleyball Team, also a member of PSI CHI.  Tutoring allows students who are new to a course to speak to students that have successfully completed the course and get advice and assistance on homework, papers, and exams. This can help turn a failing grade into a passing grade, or move a B to an A. You don’t need to be struggling with a class to want a tutor for a class!"

Kelsey will be tutoring for the Trailblazer Tutor Program for a variety of courses, we hope you take advantage of this academic support and come have fun with the Trailblazer Tutor Program!
