“So I’ve had the opportunity to mentor a variety of different students. I’ve a couple of students that I’ve watched over the four years grow from being a very shy individual coming in and not willing to answer questions to becoming a very vocal individual in the classroom, participating in discussions, but also mentoring other younger students.”
“One of my favorite parts of being an instructor is watching the students throughout their college career, seeing them come in as freshmen. And... Kind of not knowing what even is physics, how do I do this, what is this about, and seeing them grow and develop the skills and build their physics toolbox is a tacky phrase that I like to use, but it’s true, because every class you’re gonna take, not just in physics, but whatever your major is, every class contributes to how you look at the world, how you approach problems, how you get from point A to point B. That’s why people choose MCLA, right? Get those connections at an affordable price.”
“I would describe MCLA as some places very strongly community based, where students are brought into this relatively small community, but they’re very much made to feel welcome in it and a part of it. The staff and the faculty very much engage with the students, not just inside the classroom, but outside the classroom as well, to make them feel like this is a place where they’re not just getting an education, they’re growing as people And setting forth the path of what they want to do for the future.”

“I was taking a capstone class with Dr. Michael Dilthy. At that time, I was only an English major. And he presented me with the idea of, you know, there’s this great thing that combines writing and music, and it’s called songwriting. And if you became a music major, we could kind of pursue that songwriting goal together.”
“I think that everything I’ve gotten involved in on campus has been really helpful in building my resume and helping me to find more connections on campus.”
“I’ve definitely had, there’s two professors that I can think of, Rita Nodum and Hannah and they've challenged me to expand my ideas about what I know about, and they’ve really pushed me to engage in bigger spaces.”
