Julia Dixon has been an adjunct professor of arts management in the Fine and Performing Arts Department at MCLA since 2018. She earned her MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2014 and BFA from Purchase College in 2005. She has over 20 years of experience in rural creative economy development, arts administration, and freelance writing and continues to work part-time as a strategic planning consultant. In addition to contributing to team projects, she is the author of the Northern Berkshire Community Television Corporation 2025-2028 Strategic Plan (2025), North Adams; Images Cinema Business Plan 2026-2030 (2024), Williamstown; Merriam Public Art and Placemaking Master Plan (2024), Kansas; and Bennington County Cultural Plan (2019), Vermont. 

Julia is an appointed member of the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire, part of Mass Cultural Council’s Local Cultural Council Program. Previous volunteer positions include appointed co-founding member and chair of the North Adams Public Arts Commission, core team member of the North Adams Cultural District, steering committee member of North Adams Exchange, and board member and strategic planning chair of the Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires. In addition, she has an active painting practice and has received numerous awards and grants over the past several years including an Artist Fellowship in Painting from the Mass Cultural Council in 2022 as well as grants from Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation’s Martha Boschen Porter Fund (2023) and Artist’s Resource Trust Fund for Individuals (2021).
