Summer at MCLA welcomes our graduate and undergraduate students, students attending other institutions, and members of the community to enroll in our summer courses. Summer is the perfect time to get ahead in your studies or embark on a new educational journey.
MCLA offers undergraduate and graduate courses during the summer session. Students from ANY college or high school students seeking to jumpstart their college careers can take MCLA classes at affordable public college rates. Classes are offered online and in-person at the North Adams and Pittsfield campuses. MCLA offers an array of science, math, and other college courses for undergraduates in various formats. Graduate course work in teacher licensure, Master of Education, and Master of Business Administration are also available.

Have their been any changes in summer courses due to COVID-19?
For Summer 2023 MCLA will require all students registered in on-campus courses to
be vaccinated and to receive a booster shot in order to attend in-person/face-to-face
classes. Please refer to our Public Health Information website for the latest information.
Is there financial aid available for summer courses?
Financial aid may be available for matriculated students. Please complete the summer financial aid application available in the Financial Aid office or online at mcla.edu/financialaid to access available funds. There is no payment plan option in place for the summer
session. For further information on financial aid students can contact the Financial

When is my bill due?
Bills for summer for matriculated students will be issued on May 1 and will be due
on May 15. If registering after May 15 payment is due at the time of registration.
When is my bill due if I register for class after May 15?
Students are encouraged to register before May 1 to ensure course availability and
to reserve their space. If a student registers after May 15, payment will be due at
that time.
What if I have a question about my bill?
The Student Financial Services Office is located in Eldridge Hall and staffed Monday
through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. and may be reached at 413.662.5230 by

How much do courses cost in the summer?
Undergraduate
Tuition - $393 per credit
Fees - $50 per credit
A three-credit course = $1,329
Graduate
MBA
Tuition - $251 per credit
Fee - $260 per credit
A three-credit course = $1,533
MED
Tuition - $208 per credit
Fee - $218 per credit
A three-credit course = $1,278
Please note that there may be textbooks and course materials which are in addition to the listed tuition and fees.
When does registration begin and end?
Registration begins on March 1 and continues until the course begins. This end date
depends on the session in which the course takes place.
What if I want to register for a course and it's prerequisite during the summer, such
as SPAN 101 and SPAN 102?
Current students wishing to register for both courses will need to complete a course
override form available here. Questions may be directed to the registrar's office at registrar@mcla.edu. There is no prerequisite requirement for non-matriculating students.
What if I decide to drop a class?
Students will receive 100% refund if a course is dropped prior to the second class
meeting or 48 hours into an online course. After the cutoff point students will be
able to withdraw with a grade of W until the midway point but will not be refunded
for the course.
Is on campus housing available in the summer?

Are on campus dining options available?
There will be no regular dining services options on campus this summer. If you are
part of a group attending classes this summer, please contact your program coordinator
for more information.

system?

How do summer classes differ from courses offered in the fall and spring semesters?
During the summer 2023 semester MCLA will offer an assortment of online classes as
well as blended courses. These courses are generally six weeks long. With a condensed
time frame,
courses are more intensive than a traditional full 14 week semester. Students should
expect considerable online and out-of-class assignments.

How can I get a course description?

How do I purchase a text?
All text books can be purchased through the MCLA Bookstore. Please note that students are expected to purchase their own textbooks and course
materials.
How do I order transcripts once my grade has been posted?

Matriculated students may apply for summer financial aid using the form below. Students must be registered for a certain number of credit hours to qualify for aid – 6 for undergraduates and 5 for graduates. A completed 2022-2023 FAFSA must be on file, as summer financial aid is reviewed on any remaining eligibility for the 2022-2023 academic year. Matriculated students not eligible for summer financial aid should contact Student Financial Services to discuss alternative loan options.
Non-matriculated students may apply for a SallieMae Smart Option loan.
