Title IX

supportive and interim measures

For Complainants

If you have experienced sex discrimination or sexual harassment, you may receive free, individualized support from MCLA to help maintain your equal access to MCLA programs or activities, to help you cope, and to help you feel safer on campus.

These options are available to you whether or not you decide to pursue a formal administrative complaint against the perpetrator. You are not required to pursue a complaint or report the incident to law enforcement. However, the Title IX Coordinator can assist you with filing a complaint or reporting to law enforcement if you choose to do so.

For Respondents

If you have been accused of sex discrimination or sexual harassment, you may receive free, individualized support from MCLA. The Title IX Coordinator can assist you to understand if charges have been made against you, and the process for investigation and resolution.

You may also receive supportive measures to help you cope.

Supportive measures available

Supportive measures, or interim measures, are non-disciplinary, non-punitive actions that can be implemented to restore or preserve equal access to education programs or activities without unreasonably burdening the other party. Such measures can be used to protect the safety of all parties, the safety of the campus community, or to deter discrimination and sexual harassment.

Some examples of supportive measures include, but are not limited to:

  • Counseling
  • Extensions of deadlines or other course-related adjustments
  • Modifications of work or class schedules
  • Dining arrangements
  • Campus escorts
  • No contact orders
  • Changes in work or housing locations
  • Restrictions from areas of campus
  • Leaves of absence
  • Increased security and monitoring of certain areas of the campus
  • Statutorily provided leave to employees
